Yale University researchers may have found a marker for Schizophrenia, a serious mental illness that affects roughly 1 percent of the population. Brain irregularities that are present in schizophrenic individuals have been studied for some time now, however it was uncertain as to whether these irregularities were a result of the disease or perhaps even a byproduct of medicinal treatment. Recently, Yale researchers found schizophrenia to be linked with significant changes in the connections between the frontal cortex and the thalamus.
