Dr. Ermshar & Associates is pleased to announce that Julia Core has joined our practice.
Julia Core completed her Masters Degree in Clinical Family Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. She is currently working on her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) at Azusa Pacific University with a concentration in psychodynamic theory. Her clinical training has involved providing psychotherapy and assessment in community mental health centers serving adults, adolescents, and children with serious mental illness. She has a passion for trauma-informed care, which led her to pursue training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Seeking Safety (trauma-informed intervention for substance abuse). Julia is very committed to working in environments that integrate cultural strengths and multicultural responsiveness into treatment. As the Graduate Psychology Diversity Committee President, she facilitates trainings that prepare Azusa Pacific clinicians to use culturally-responsive interventions in treating clients from all backgrounds. Her research interests are focused on projects that create systemic change, including: exploring a culturally-inclusive definition of consent, increasing access to psychodynamic mental health services, and empowering underrepresented students on university campuses.
